About

Features of the Department

The primary goals of the department are caring for students and enhancing their future competitiveness. After students enter the workforce or pursue advanced studies, the alumni and students’ integration system also offers post-students the best back-up resources. In order to react to modern domestic and international financial trends, the department has special knowledge about the times we live in, and places particular emphasis on international trends in the areas of financial knowledge and management skills, skills such as language training, information processing, investment banking, international finance, financial innovation, financial derivatives, trusts, electronic banks, Real estate finance, consumer finance and other financial professionals. Students can choose their favorite courses and focus on licenses, cultivating practical knowledge such as the GEPT, financial professional licenses and other certificates. In curriculum design and development over the past few years we have created our own characteristics. These are:

A、Integration- Consistent convergence of technical and vocational systems.

  1. (1) Hold seminars for high schools, vocational schools, and post-secondary school strategic partners, and strategic alliances so as to implement the upstream and downstream integration of academic curricula and recruitment marketing, etc.
  2. (2) Converge the curriculum in four-year colleges, two-year colleges and vocational high schools, and do an effective integration of all the segments.
  3. (3) Promote and encourage senior high school and post-secondary school teachers to pursue advanced studies in school education, such as EMBA, or Ph.D., etc.
  4. (4) Hold a financial study camp aimed at senior high school, vocational high school and post- secondary students.

B、Internationalization- Courses focused on internationalization.

  1. (1) Deliver courses about international finance and invite international scholars to give speeches.
  2. (2) Hold international seminars about innovative finance.
  3. (3) Emphasize the cultivation of English skills, long-term planning curriculum design regarding the importance of having English fluency.
  4. (4) Collaborate with domestic and international institutions via exchange teachers, overseas study tours (summer vacation), credit degrees, and so on.

C、Practice - Teaching focuses on job markets.

  1. (1) Build Virtual Stock Exchange and other investment environments, and provide the software and hardware equipment of investment simulation competition, and competition prizes.
  2. (2) Offer students finance license subsides, and encourage them to seek self-development.
  3. (3) Supply off-campus internships during the school year and summer vacation in order to attain the practice teaching of school goals.

D、Connect with practice.

  1. (1) Push: As the practical projects are requirements, you can’t graduate without them.
  2. (2) Pull:
    1. a. Hold more speeches on enterprises.
    2. b. Start the integration of industry-education practice courses and off-campus intern courses.
    3. c .Encourage students to apply for subsidies from National Science Council junior college students special programs.
    4. d. Praise students after passing.

E、Cultivate international competitiveness- students in college and graduate school are encouraged to gain licenses.

Design Concept

Focus on practical education. Cultivate financial industry operations management personnel who have a global perspective, a sense of teamwork, the spirit of service and professional ethics.

Promote industry-university cooperation, both in practice and in theory, professional, and general education that will assist in carrying out inter-school cooperation, international interaction, enhancing academic exchanges, providing the education of internationalization and integration of the department so as to cultivate the experts that are needed by the domestic financial industry to face international challenges.

Conduct advanced study education, set up an On-job Master program and Continuing Studies so that up to date knowledge of financial investments and operational management can effectively strike a North-South balance, and assist in local development.

Vision for the Future

Taiwan has joined the WTO, and it clear that the financial industry needs more professional experts with global perspectives.

Financial and industrial communities are faced with mergers or restructuring, and eagerly need professional finance and investment banking staff.

Taiwan needs senior financial personnel because IPOs and a globalization atmosphere prevail among Taiwanese industries.

The financial industry eagerly needs professional experts with licenses, and needs schools to cultivate and help their students take part in examinations to gain licenses.

The informationalization of financial institutions is becoming ever more popular, and related demand for talented people, especially financial derivatives professionals, is increasing sharply.

Society's conception of personal finance is rapidly changing. Therefore, professional finance and investment professionals are in great demand.

With increasing internationalization, innovation and complications in the financial industry, people with expertise and knowledge are becoming more valued.
